Amanda grew up in the small town of Eaton Rapids, Michigan.
At the age of 12, Amanda began experimenting with her father’s film camera, taking photos for school projects and creating artistic portraits of her friends. Despite her many interests and talents, she fell in love with the art of photography and became determined to make it her career goal in life.
By age 16, after taking as many photography classes as her school offered, Amanda began accepting photography jobs – shooting senior pictures, family pictures, and many events for the high school, where she worked on the yearbook staff and became the darkroom editor. There she spent time perfecting the craft of film photography and darkroom printing.
Her junior year, Amanda received a scholarship through Western Michigan University to study photography at the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts at a summer camp for a group of “elite” students.
Amanda went on to graduate high school with honors at the age of 17, and received a full-ride scholarship to Grand Valley State University to study communications and photography. At that time, she began switching over to digital photography and practicing the art of graphic design.
In 2004, Amanda accepted her first “formal” job as a professional photographer with a well-known studio in the Lansing area and has been professionally living her dream ever since.
In the summer of 2008, Amanda stumbled upon the beautiful town of Three Rivers, Michigan in search of a place to start her own business and begin her solo career.
“The artist in me was drawn to this town and all that it has to offer – the atmosphere, the landscape – there’s so much inspiration in every direction.”
…and so became Studio City Photography.
In 2013 Amanda expanded Studio City Photography into Southwest Florida, where her work continues to create quite a buzz from the Tampa Bay area all the way down the coast to Marco Island.
To date, Amanda has photographed over 900 weddings and countless portrait and commercial sessions at locations all over the country. Her work has earned multiple awards and has been featured and published on numerous digital and print platforms, including Wedding Day Magazine. Amanda also received the high honor of being voted “Wedding Photographer of the Year” by the Michigan Wedding Guide two years in a row in 2018 and 2019, where they featured her work on the cover and throughout the publication.
In 2020, Amanda purchased an 82 acre farm in Bangor, Michigan where she now hosts clients for portraits sessions and has plans for a wedding and event venue in the near future. When she is not behind the camera, you can find Amanda tending to her crops and spending time in nature, building her dream at Big Sky Farm.
